								<description>Coon Rapids, Minnesota,  Job Description: 
 &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;Performs veterinary examinations and directs medical treatments as part of standard care, study specific requirements, and veterinary orders.  &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;Performs and documents a variety of activities, including but not limited to, physical, gait, and neurological examinations; routine veterinary observations; charting of physiological data and animal health status; etc.  &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;Trains and supervises personnel in concepts such as veterinary care, aseptic surgery, animal welfare and special techniques. &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;Performs surgical procedures and participate in projects where surgical/clinical expertise, postmortem examination, diagnostic expertise, and/or veterinary care are required &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;Monitors animals&#8217; progress in anesthetic recovery and post-operatively on the days following surgery to ensure appropriate healing. &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;Advises on the development of new surgical methods to enlarge NAMSA competencies and reputation  &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;May serve as a member of IACUC &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;Shares with after-hours, weekend, and on-call duties.  &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;Assists with laboratory and technical staff training.  &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;Serves as principal investigator writing reports and/or as project coordinator, as assigned.  &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;Develops SOPs, GLP protocols, study plans, and reports as needed.  &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;Participates in audits/inspections as needed.  &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;May serve as non-GLP project coordinator as assigned.  &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;Other duties as assigned.

 Pay Range Target:  
 $130,000.00

 Please Note: Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.

 &#xa0; 
 &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;0-3 years of related experience or ACLAM board certification. &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;Research experience with a broad knowledge of animal models is preferred. &#xa0;Experience in a GLP environment is a plus. &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;DVM and a valid state veterinary license.

 Working Conditions:

 &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly exposed to, and must handle and come in contact with, a variety of livestock, domestic, and laboratory animals, as well as their blood and bodily fluids. &#xa0;The Associate is frequently exposed to sharps, wet conditions (non-weather), and toxic or caustic chemicals. &#xa0;The Associate is occasionally exposed to fluoroscopy, required to work within a Bio-Safety-Level 2 (BSL2) environment, and on rare occasions is exposed to faxitron x-ray imaging. &#xa0;The Associate may occasionally be exposed to gasses such as CO2 and isoflurane, and zoonotic diseases.&#xa0; &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and frequently loud. &#xa0;Hearing protection is required in designated areas and when performing specific tasks &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and talk or hear. &#xa0;The Associate is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, grasp, hold and manipulate equipment or tools with hands, stoop, crouch, and kneel. &#xa0;The Associate is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, or crawl. &#xa0;The Associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance. &#xa0;The Associate may be required to view computer monitors and stand for extended periods of time.&#xa0; &#8226;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, the ability to see a full range of colors, the ability to adjust focus, and exceptional spatial acuity and visual-kinesthetic coordination.
