The Washington State University (WSU) Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) seeks to fill a full-time continuous career track faculty position in Veterinary Anesthesia. Veterinarians with anesthesia experience are encouraged to apply – residency training is not required. The successful applicant will join two other Veterinary Anesthesia faculty members (one ACVAA Diplomate and one ACVAA board-eligible faculty member), and a dedicated team of six anesthesia technicians and two house officers. The Anesthesia Service provides support to nearly every small animal and large animal service within the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) in Pullman, Washington. Our VTH is the leading referral center in the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest with over 20,000 patient visits per year, aspiring to be the country’s best academic veterinary hospital for patients, students, clients, colleagues, and community. The joint mission of the VTH and VCS is to improve the health and well-being of all animals through excellence in medical care, training future veterinarians, and finding innovative ways to diagnose and treat disease. RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will emphasize clinical service and clinical teaching, with up to 75% effort devoted to these activities. The successful candidate will provide clinical anesthesia service for the VTH and clinical instruction of professional veterinary students and interns. Remaining effort will comprise classroom and laboratory teaching. The candidate will have the opportunity to join our Simulation-Based Education (SBE) Program to teach principles of anesthesia to third-year DVM students using our innovative anesthesia simulation models in our newly renovated $8 million Clinical Simulation Center. Our SBE Program is the nation’s first veterinary simulation program accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate must have a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree (VMD, BVSc) with 5 years clinical experience as a veterinarian and at least 2 years experience in primarily performing veterinary anesthesia.

Considerations regarding faculty rank will be determined based on the interests and qualifications of the candidate, as will division of time between clinical duty and teaching.
