Saginaw Valley Equine Clinic’s Externship program is focused on educating young veterinarians on the many facets of equine medicine while allowing an inside view as to what our internship program has to offer.  Our externs should expect to rotate through our several services including sports medicine, ambulatory, surgery/hospitalized patient care, and reproduction.  Our goal is to transition our externs from observation to hands-on participation whenever possible. 

SVEC is a four-doctor equine exclusive practice based out of Saginaw, Michigan.  We currently have four full time veterinarians, with various areas of specialty. We also have board certified surgeons who visit our practice for advanced elective surgeries weekly or bi weekly.  This, and our long-standing excellence in sports medicine allow our externs and interns a wide variety of case exposure. 

Practice Breakdown:

- Sports Medicine: 40%                       
- Surgery: 25%
- Reproduction: 20%                       
- General Practice: 15%

We have housing available on-site for externs on a first-come first-serve basis.  Interested parties should submit their documents to Cheryl@saginawvalleyequine.com.
