Job Summary
Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is seeking a full-time, Equine Science Residential Faculty. This position will instruct, supervise and evaluate students with diverse backgrounds in Equine Science in traditional, laboratory, and hybrid formats in accordance with Maricopa County Community Colleges District (MCCCD) and SCC policies and procedures. This position will research, develop, and implement Equine Science courses as well as remain current in developments within the field in order to research, develop and implement updated instructional materials.
To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus, with the possibility of partial remote work depending on business needs.

Essential Functions
Supervises and instructs students of various ages and diverse backgrounds in classroom and lab settings.
Provides classroom instruction that covers a wide variety of equine science related topics utilizing learning materials that include verbal, written, audio/visual, computer based multimedia methods of communication, and learning management systems such as Canvas.
Provides instruction at offsite horse facilities that involves exposure to typical farm-type outside conditions; dust, heat, pesticide sprays, wind etc.; work requires extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, possible lifting up to 50 lbs, and handling horses within the SCC equine program safety guidelines.
Evaluates student performance and monitors students' scholastic records including exam preparation and administration, scoring, tracking, and calculating final grades for each student.
Designs and develops curricula and instructional materials.
Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught through Faculty Professional Growth (FPG) to remain current in developments within the field in order to research, develop and implement updated instructional materials.
Minimum Qualifications For Occupational Disciplines: A combination of education and/or experience is required to qualify. Faculty may qualify with any of the following:Five years of occupational experience in the following fields:DVM, Bachelors in Equine Science, CTE Education in Equine Science, CTE Education Animal Science/Equine, CTE Education in Farrier Science, CTE Veterinary Technology OR Three years of occupational experience in the following fields as well as a Bachelor's degree in any field:DVM, Bachelors in Equine Science, CTE Education in Equine Science, CTE Education Animal Science/Equine, CTE Education in Farrier Science, CTE Veterinary Technology OR A Master's degree in any field with a combination of 24 upper division undergraduate credits in the following fields or courses: Coursework that includes: Equine Science and Management, Animal/Livestock Husbandry, Animal Science, Animal Health And in these areas: EQS, ANSC, VET, ANH, AGS
Desired Qualifications
A. Master's Degree in Equine Science, or Animal Science/Equine Specialty or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine/Equine Specialty
B. Bachelors of Science degree in Equine Science/Equine Studies
C. Five (5) years or more of occupational experience working within the Equine Industry
D. Three (3) years teaching experience within the field of Equine Science/Equine Studies
Special Working Conditions
Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.
Will be required to travel to other MCCCD locations.
May be required to instruct at multiple sites and/or teach days, evenings or weekends
May be required to lift or carry up to 50 lbs.

This position requires a physical presence on campus.
This position is scheduled to start August 2023.
