Do you want to work in a community that is small enough to avoid all the “hustle and bustle” but large enough to have most amenities, good schools, etc
Do you want to work within a community that is close knit but not so small that you see your clients every time you go to the grocery store
Do you want access to amazing wilderness opportunities from your backyard?
Do you have an interest in the GREAT outdoors?
If you answered YES to any of these, then you belong in Fairbanks, Alaska!
Do you want to practice at a well established, independently owned, full service small animal veterinary hospital?
Do you want to work within a team that supports each other?
Do you want to have a support staff that makes your job easier?
Do you truly want to experience work-life balance?
Do you want to practice all aspects of veterinary medicine and not refer everything to the specialist down the street?
Do you have a desire to learn and expand your horizons?
Do you want the case load and exposure to a variety of cases that you would see in a large clinic without the intensity of big city living?
Do you want to explore their passions and dreams?
Do you want to work with a variety of mentors?
If you answered YES to any of these, then you belong at Aurora Animal Clinic!
Aurora Animal Clinic (www.auroraanimal.com) was established in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1972 and provides exceptional veterinary care to pets from all over Interior Alaska. In April 2023 will be moving into a brand new & larger facility designed just for us, located just across the street from Creamer’s Wildlife Refuge.
Currently, our practice is open Monday through Friday, 8AM-6PM. Our associates work 3-4 days per week, they see 30 minute appointments, have 1 hour scheduled lunch and 1 hour scheduled “flex time” each day. Each associate is paired with a veterinary assistant every day as well as 3-4 LVTs available for all of the DVMs as needed. Unfortunately, we do have occasional nights of “on call” (on average, one night per 6-7 weeks per associate).
Our team is currently made up of a sole owner (DVM), 5 veterinary associates, 4 LVTs, 4 LVT students, 1 veterinary student, 1 preveterinary student and several veterinary assistants and client service representatives.
We have a well-established client base, but also have 3 military bases in the area which provide a good portion of our clientele. We work closely with several rescue groups as well as the local animal shelter.
The clinic is equipped with all the bells and whistles that everyone else has - digital radiology, ultrasound, endoscopy, advanced surgical equipment, therapeutic laser, underwater treadmill, etc. Our practice is well known for our veterinary care but also orthopedics and rehabilitation, we also collaborate internally and externally to provide quality veterinary medicine as well as personal and professional growth.
Our relatively remote location lends to exposure to a wide variety of cases. A successful candidate will have the privilege of working within a community that collaborates not just within our practice, but also with practitioners across the state because “we’re all in this together” when times get challenging.
All the typical benefits apply, pay is salary (DOE & work hours) with a production bonus, we offer a signing bonus with no long term strings attached, relocation allowance, flexible work schedule, PTO, professional memberships, 100% health care, retirement, uniform allowance. Interim housing available if needed. Our continuing education allowance is generous and allows for out-of-state events every year. Longer term employees can also qualify for funding for more advanced training such as ultrasound, surgery, acupuncture, etc.
A successful candidate will be assured of mentorship from DVMs with a wide variety of interests and experience. Our staff is always encouraged to expand their horizons both professionally and personally.
Yes, we have winter in Fairbanks, Alaska, serious winter. But, winter brings the beauty of northern lights, snow, skiing (downhill, cross country, skijoring), dog mushing, snow machining, cabin trips and more to enjoy after work and on days off. We also have gorgeous summers with never ending daylight, access to a huge state with endless places to explore, a wide variety of hunting, fishing and more.
If this resonates with you, please reach out via email or phone.

We have a wide range of services available to our clients as well as the ability to refer to specialists within and out of state if needed. Each of our doctors has a variety of special interests including orthopedics, dermatology, ophthalmology, oncology, rehabilitation, and more.
