Description:
High-volume, high-quality spay and neuter veterinarian position with a progressive animal welfare organization that works to better the lives of companion animals and the people who love them.
Job Highlights:
Reduced schedule, trained and skilled support team, four days per week, no on-call shifts, no nights or weekends, limited interaction with clients, minimal travel. Veterinarians with a desire to learn and grow in their HVHQ spay/neuter skills are encouraged to apply; RACE accredited training provided through ASPCA. Located in the beloved city of Asheville, North Carolina, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Open to a shared position between two veterinarians with part time hours.
Surgery:
The surgeon performs 15-25 spay/neuters each day on shelter and public animals, as well as community cats, typically within a 6-8 hour work day, depending on the surgeon’s speed. The surgery schedule is built in partnership with the veterinarian and reflects their comfort and speed as they adjust to HVHQ spay/neuter. Our clinic team consists of a veterinarian, two skilled and experienced HVHQ spay/neuter veterinary assistants, and a mobile clinic administrative coordinator; overseen by Brother Wolf’s Medical Manager in close partnership with our Executive Director. The clinic is stationed at our shelter in Asheville three days a week and travels once a week to established partner sites within a 90 minute radius.
Training:
As part of this role, the veterinarian has the opportunity to complete RACE accredited training with the ASPCA Spay/Neuter Alliance, a benefit Brother Wolf provides for all clinic staff members. Our close proximity and relationship with the ASPCA S/N Alliance allows us to regularly facilitate opportunities for further training and mentorship on surgical techniques, anesthetic protocols, and patient care throughout the veterinarian’s tenure with Brother Wolf. Therefore, we highly encourage those with an interest in HVHQ spay/neuter to apply, even if your experience is limited. Brother Wolf Mobile Clinic follows ASPCA’s HVHQ spay/neuter protocols.
About our Mobile Clinic:
Brother Wolf opened our first mobile spay and neuter clinic in November of 2018, with the goal of preventing pet overpopulation and euthanasia in shelters, and to provide a high quality, affordable spay/neuter option to the public. We also assist shelters and rescue groups in spaying and neutering pets before adoption. Our clinic staff performs surgery on dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies, including pediatric animals.
