Salary Details:
Students interested in a short-term externship may qualify for a stipend to assist with housing and travel expenses. For longer term experiences (several weeks), students would be paid an hourly rate.

Town & Country Veterinary Clinic is a 3 DVM, small animal practice in New Philadelphia, OH with a satellite location 15 minutes away in Bolivar, located approximately two hours from OSU. We have served our community since 1969 and offer a stable and loyal clientele. We also practice progressive medicine by equipping our clinic with DR, dental radiography, ultrasound, cold laser, complete patient monitoring system, and mentoring from our experienced Medical Director. Even further, we have a 2:1 ratio of RVT:DVM. Yes, that’s right – a full group of accomplished and experienced support staff to help manage cases!

Responsibilities:
Students will practice under the direct supervision and guidance of licensed veterinarians. All duties are subject to and in accordance with each state’s veterinary practice act. Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and treatment areas
- Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy
- Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions to all clients
- Prepare clinical laboratory procedures as required
- Effectively position pets and take radiographs
- Admit and discharge patients following hospital policy and verbal or written orders
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in a
- Collaborate within a high-functioning team to learn hospital workflow and protocols
- Refine your animal restraint and technical skills (including sample collections, administering medications and more, dependent upon experience)
- Observe and participate in routine and emergency examinations, diagnostic
interpretations, and surgical and dental procedures - Improve your interpersonal and client communication skills
- n AVMA-accredited DVM program (or equivalent)
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must be able to lift and carry objects and animals up to 40 pounds
