McDonough Animal Hospital is seeking a kind, efficient and friendly associate veterinarian to add to our team. Our hospital is about 25 minutes south of Atlanta, GA and an hour north of Macon, GA. We boast a vibrant and bustling town square, lots of shopping, dining and entertainment options, as well as plenty of room to move in the more rural areas of the county! We are currently a 2 doctor practice, both doctors have 20+ years in veterinary medicine and have different styles of practice. 

 

This position is open for a doctor who primarily sees dogs and cats, but we do have some equipment and a demand in the area for a large animal practitioner. 

 

We are primarily small animal, and one of our doctors sees pocket pets as well. We are open 5 days per week (mostly by appointment) beginning at 9am, NO weekends and NO on-call. Our hospital closes at 8 pm on Monday and Wednesday, and at 6pm Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. We have 2-3 assistants per day for room appointments, 1 surgery assistant, 1 kennel assistant and 2 to 3 receptionists per day to handle the volume of phone calls and appointments.

 

 

Most of our team is cross trained and can be called to the treatment area or sent up front to help with reception duties. The doctors are typically out on time at closing, and the reception team does their best to be intentional with the last couple of appointments before lunch and end of day. We are currently working on a more "stress free handling approach" and are working to learn more about canine and feline behavior. The practice manager and the DVM/part owner meet each morning and discuss issues or things that should be addressed, the doctors have a meeting with the practice manager together every couple of months, and our team is beginning to have CE required of them to keep everyone on the same page. The support staff completes one on one check ins with the manager every 3 or 4 months, which is the time to address issues and find out what's going on outside of work.
