The Madison-Oglethorpe Animal Shelter is a local non-profit animal shelter located 20 minutes outside of Athens, Georgia in the beautiful city of Danielsville, GA. We are an open-intake animal shelter that services both Madison and Oglethorpe counties with their animal related needs. We also provide low-cost spay/neuter services for the community five days per week, and we are looking to expand our surgery services to be able to reduce the pet over-population problem in our areas. We take in nearly 2,600 animals annual and contribute our 96% live release rate to our rescue partners and veterinary staff who ensure our animals are helathy enough for transports to our Northern rescue partners. In addition to adoptions and transports, we also provide externship opportunities for 4th year veterinary students from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.
